Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho breaks hand playing for Nigeria

Leicester City expect Kelechi Iheanacho to be available on Saturday against Brighton despite breaking his hand. The forward suffered the injury while on international duty with Nigeria and he was not named among the substitutes for their 2-0 defeat to Serbia in Barnet on Tuesday. He fractured the first metacarpal in his right hand and will be further assessed by Leicester's medical staff before returning to training on Thursday. The 21-year-old joined the Foxes from Manchester City in August 2017 on a five-year deal. Since then he has made 15 Premier League appearances scoring one but has managed four goals in five FA cup matches.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice in the first half to match the Belgium all-time goals record in a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia. The Manchester United striker put Belgium 2-0 up within the opening 39 minutes and then added an assist to let Kevin De Bruyne score the final goal in the 79th minute, one minute after Michy Batshuayi netted the third. Ibrahimivic, 36, scored 29 goals in 53 appearances for the Red Devils but has played only seven times since damaging cruciate ligaments in April. The Presidency on Wednesday confirmed the release of students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State who were abducted by the Boko Haram sect on February 19. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this in an interview. About 110 female students of Government Girls Secondary School at Dapchi town in Bursari local government area of Yobe state who were recently kidnapped by Boko Haram has been released. The girls’ release came exactly one week after President Muhammadu Buhari visited the school where they were kidnapped. Buhari had during the visit last Wednesday reassured parents of the abducted schoolgirls that the Federal Government will not rest on its oars, until their wards are safely brought back home.

Eight companies which got N4.478 billion to supply 104 Unity Colleges Science Kits disappeared with the cash. The Universal Basi c Education Commission (UBEC) has written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to admit that the kits were not supplied. The anti-graft agency is probing top UBEC. Officials for alleged diversion of a huge chunk of the N20 billion voted for contracts. One of the contracts is the supply of science and technical equipment and books. The movement of about eight suspects has been restricted to the country following the seizure of their passports. UBEC conducted an audit of the items supplied by the eight companies. Manslaughter investigation opened into Astori’s death

Italian authorities have confirmed that they have opened manslaughter proceedings into the death of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori. NDLEA: accuses man of swallowing 127 heroin wraps

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two suspects in possession of hard drugs, valued at N50m at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State. Parading the suspects at the airport on Thursday, the NDLEA commandant at the airport, Mr. Ambrose Umoru, said the suspects – a man and a woman – were nabbed on February 17 by the operatives of the command during a routine inward screening of passengers on board Ethiopian Airline, flight number ET 941, with the substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.According to Umoru, one of the suspects, Nweke Emmanuel, 49, a native of Ire in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was caught with 2.180kg of ingested heroin, adding that the quantity is the single largest drug ingestion seizure recorded in the country in recent times. The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.According to him, candidates are to check their results on line by visiting www.jamb .org.ng with their registration numbers. CBN WARNS AGAINST INVESTMENT IN BITCOIN AND OTHERS

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday cautioned Nigerians to be wary of investments in crypto currencies, stating that virtual currencies were not legal tender in the country. The apex bank said in a statement issued in Abuja that crypto currencies such as Bitcoin, Ripples, Monero, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Onecoin, and exchanges such as NairaEx, were not licensed or regulated by it. The statement signed by the bank’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, explained that dealers and investors in any kind of crypto currency in the country were not protected by law. It added that since they were not protected by law, such investors might not be able to seek legal redress in the event of failure or collapse of the business. The apex bank warned Nigerians against investing in crypto currencies as doing so would be at their own risk. Nigeria Lassa fever death toll hits seventy two in 18 states

Seventy-two people have died of Lassa fever since January 1, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said yesterday. The development is contained in the centre’s situation report on the virus. According to the report, dated February 25, 1,081 suspected cases were reported in 18 states. The states are: Edo, Ondo, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue, Kogi, Imo, Plateau, Lagos, Taraba, Delta, Osun, Rivers, FCT, Gombe and Ekiti. Of the suspected cases, 317 are said to be confirmed and 72 deaths were also confirmed, eight of which are probable. Edo remains the worst as 43 per cent of all confirmed cases are from the state.
