Effects of Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying also known as cyberharrassment is a form of bullying
using electronic means or digital communication tools such as internet and cell
phones to make another person feel
angry, sad, scared. It can be called online bullying, it is an online bullying
if it keeps happening and happening again. Examples of cyberbullying includes,
posting embarrassing photos or videos on social media, spreading rumours on
social media. Some youngsters also use internet and cell phones for negative
purposes, threatening someone by hiding behind a fake profile. Cyberbullying occur
mostly among teenager. Kids with learning and thinking differences are more
likely to be cyberbullied than their peers.
Before the use of internet, bullying happens mostly in
person. Kids are bullied in school, bus
stop, etc with internet physical bullying has reduced and cyberbullying is on
the high because it can happen anytime of the day and can happen anywhere
without identifying who is the bully. Cyberbullying does not only happen among
kids, lots of adults are also victims of cyberbullying, adults receiving cruel
messages, hurtful messages.
It is also important to know that not all online fights
between kids, peer group are always cyberbullying. Lots of banter occurs on
social media, when they get into arguments, this is not only limited to kids or
teens. Cyberbullying can torment you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the
bullying can follow you anywhere you go, nowhere is safe, even at home, with
just a few clicks on the internet you are everywhere, talk of the whole place.
Cyberbullying includes;
- trolling
- cyber-stalking
- fraping
- dissing
- and video shaming
For kids that are victim of cyberbullying, fear to report to
their parent; so they don’t have their time on the internet cut short or been
seen as a weakling. Cyberbullying makes you feel hurt, makes your physical
health suffer, likely to skip class or drop out of school to avoid being
bullied.
You’d wonder why you are being bullied but can’t come up
with an answer, that’s because you are not the issue but the bully.

- Because they are jealous of you
- They want to look tough and powerful
- They do it as revenge of them getting bullied
Dealing with bully is a little complicated but you can scale
through whatsoever types of bullying you might be going through
- Never blame yourself
- Learn the ability to manage stress
- Do stuffs you enjoy doing
- Stay away from internet and use it when necessary
- Share your feelings, it helps boost your confidence, avoid sharing with a bully minded person but someone who share same values and interest as yourself
