World Biggest Bank Heist in History

·       Central bank of Iraq heist

This is considered to be the largest money heist in the world; with it headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. Central bank of Iraq was established in the year 1947. Iraq currency is known as Iraqi Dinar.
Over $920 million was stolen, which makes it the world biggest bank heist in history. Mastermind of the bank heist was Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein



·       The Dar Es Salaam Bank Heist

Second on the list is a is a financial institution from Iraq “The Dar Es Salaam Bank” this particular bank heist was planed and orchestrated by several bank security guard . About $300 million was estimated to have been stolen during this particular bank heist.



·       Knightsbridge Security Deposit Robbery

Valeria Viccei wanted for more than 40 armed robberies in Italy, was the mastermind, it took place on 12 July 1987. Valeria Viccei had an assistant. Both men entered the bank and requested to rent a safe deposit box. After being shown into the vault ,they subdued the bank manager using their handguns and overpowered the security, about $98 million was stolen.



·       Securitas depot robbery

Fourth on the list is securitas depot heist, bank notes belonging to the Bank of England was stolen. This happened on February 21, 2006, with about $92 million stolen. Mastermind of the heist was Lee Murray, one of the biggest British stars in UFC, who is now serving 25 years in Moroccan prison


·        Banco central robbery

The amount estimated to be stolen was 164,755,150 Brazilian reais which is $69.8 million. This heist was carried out by a gang of 25 robbers on 6 to 7 of august 2005, previously operating as landscape company in a nearby building, dug a tunnel 78m long at 4m below street level which ended directly under the Banco central in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Alleged N4.478billion contracts fraud

Eight companies which got N4.478 billion to supply 104 Unity Colleges Science Kits disappeared with the cash. The Universal Basi c Education Commission (UBEC) has written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to admit that the kits were not supplied. The anti-graft agency is probing top UBEC. Officials for alleged diversion of a huge chunk of the N20 billion voted for contracts. One of the contracts is the supply of science and technical equipment and books. The movement of about eight suspects has been restricted to the country following the seizure of their passports. UBEC conducted an audit of the items supplied by the eight companies. In a March 1, 2018 letter to the EFCC, signed by an Assistant Director for Procurement, Benjamin A. Smart, UBEC confirmed that there was fraud in the contracts.
